Our history

The history of our church begins in the early 1950s, when a small group of friends from the former Dutch East Indies reconnected in The Hague. They gathered in living rooms to pray, sing, and share their faith.

In 1956, they found their spiritual father and mother in the pastoral couple Bernard and Ippy Robert. Under their inspiring leadership, the small home group grew into a vibrant congregation that met for many years on Sundays in a gymnasium on Snelliusstraat. Meanwhile, prayer meetings, women's gatherings, and youth services continued to take place in their homes.

On December 15, 1966, the congregation was officially established as the Soli Deo Gloria Foundation (Glory to God Alone), belonging to the Full Gospel. A few years later,

On August 30, 1973, our current building at Sweelinckplein 8 was purchased.

Under Bernard and Ippy's leadership, many miracles occurred. They also founded churches in Rotterdam, Dordrecht, Goes, and Leiden.

After the passing of Bernard in 1976, Ippy continued to serve as our pastor with great love, faith, and perseverance. She served the congregation until the Lord called her home in 2001. Until 2020, the Word was faithfully brought by guest preachers. Since then, the congregation has been led by Chérie-May Tabachek.

The current board is represented by the third generation of Soli Deo Gloria, who, like the founders, passionately continue to build the work God has begun in this congregation.
